Dry spots and overspray: assessing irrigation coverage

A dry corner beside an overwatered walkway suggests a coverage problem, not automatically a need for longer watering. In an Amarillo yard, wind, obstructions and changing plant growth can also affect what you observe during a cycle.

Record the pattern

Sketch the dry area and nearby heads. Note blocked spray, tilted heads and water hitting pavement. Take observations during ordinary conditions; a single windy cycle should not be the only evidence used to redesign a zone.

Focused adjustment or larger work

Ask which changes are adjustments, which require replacement parts and which involve moving heads or changing zone layout. A coverage assessment should explain the reason for each change rather than prescribing the same fix everywhere.

Define completion

Agree on the parts of the yard included and how the provider will demonstrate the adjusted pattern. Ask whether follow-up adjustments are available after you have watched several normal cycles.
