Prepare the layout
Mark planned hard surfaces, plants and areas that should remain dry on a simple sketch. Tell the installer whether the landscape design is final. Repeated changes after trenching can alter labor and restoration costs.
What to compare
Ask how each proposed location affects adjacent coverage and available water delivery. Clarify whether the work includes underground pipe changes, new fittings or adjustments elsewhere on the zone.
Coordinate access
Discuss utility location, access around paving and who restores the finished landscape. If another contractor is building the patio or fence, establish the work order before either crew starts.
Useful question
Does the quote cover testing the entire changed zone, or only moving the listed heads?
