Check the installation context
Have the current controller model, active zone count and location ready. Tell the installer whether the controller is outdoors and whether dependable Wi-Fi reaches that spot. Do not remove covers to identify electrical details.
Questions beyond the hardware
Ask which features continue working without internet access, who creates the app account and how schedules are recovered after a reset. Confirm sensor compatibility instead of assuming existing accessories will transfer.
Compare complete proposals
Include the controller, enclosure if needed, labor, configuration, testing and homeowner orientation. Separate optional monitoring or subscriptions from the installation price. Savings depend on the previous system and operating conditions.
Useful question
Who will have administrative access, and can I operate essential functions without relying on the installer's account?
