Describe the pattern
Note whether wet soil appears during one zone's cycle or remains wet between cycles. Share recent fence, landscaping or utility work. Do not excavate around unidentified pipes, cables or roots to look for the leak yourself.
Location before excavation
Ask how the contractor will distinguish a pipe break from a leaking fitting or valve. An initial diagnostic visit may not include the excavation and permanent repair; those stages should be stated separately.
Restoration scope
Compare pipe material, fittings, access depth, root conflicts and hard-surface work. Confirm whether soil backfill, sod replacement and settlement follow-up are included or separate. A repaired pipe and a fully restored lawn are not identical deliverables.

Will the repaired section and the affected zone be tested before the excavation is closed?
